On Monday, Peter Navarro, who served as Donald Trump's trade advisor, intensified his criticism of India's trade practices and its oil imports from Russia. This comes despite ongoing affirmations from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Biden regarding the significance of the India-US partnership.
In an interview with CNBC, Navarro addressed the stalled trade negotiations between the two countries, stating, 'India is engaging in discussions. Prime Minister Modi recently shared a positive and constructive tweet, to which President Trump replied. However, in practical terms, we recognize that India imposes the highest tariffs among major nations and has substantial non-tariff barriers. We are addressing these issues as we do with other nations that have similar practices.'
